The State Water Resources Control Board’s Division of Drinking Water has one (1) opening for an Engineering Geologist in the Lassen District Unit. The position is located at 364 Knollcrest Drive, Suite 101, Redding, CA 96003.

Special Requirements

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

• Knowledge of and/or experience in geology and hydrogeology, including the development of groundwater monitoring programs and understanding the fate and transport of contaminants in groundwater.
• Knowledge of and/or experience with reviewing and writing technical reports with a focus on environmental, geological, and hydrogeological data and statistical and geological engineering analysis.
• Knowledge of and/or experience with drinking water, drinking water wells, and groundwater issues specific to California.
• Knowledge of and/or experience with interpreting environmental laws, rules, and regulations.
• Analytical knowledge and/or experience.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal).
• Good problem-solving skills.
• Good attention to detail with ability to follow instructions and directions without error.
• Knowledge of and/or experience with conducting field investigations.  
• Ability to work independently, organize and set priorities, and meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of and/or experience with computer applications (such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel).
• Knowledge and/or experience performing technical tasks.

A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) must be submitted along with the State Application and serves as documentation of candidate’s ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing. It should be typed, no more than two (2) pages in length, using Arial size 12-point font , and normal margins .

2. Provide an example of when you have worked with diverse stakeholders to move a project forward, and the difficulties and successes that you encountered.

3. Provide an example where you had to correspond with a difficult person or entity to obtain information and what you learned from this situation.

4. Discuss your participation in the design, construction, inspection, operation and/or management phases of a water and/or wastewater project(s).

5. Discuss your background and how it might relate to this position.
