Job Summary
The Event Manager is an integral member of the organization’s Programming department, working with the VP of Programming and the Programming Team to plan and implement programs including Musicians Corner, Kidsville, and Nashville Earth Day, while emphasising customer service, audience and partner experience, and clear communication across departments and with key programming partners. The position is based in Nashville, Tennessee. We are currently working in a hybrid remote/office schedule during non-event seasons.
Work Schedule: We are currently working in a hybrid remote in-office environment. This position is required to be in the office some days of the week. When not in office or on-site at events, this position has the flexibility to work from home.
Job Responsibilities
The Event Manager will have the following primary responsibilities:
- Plan and implement events for current and future CPC programs; manage logistics, operations, and visitor experience of 20+ outdoor events annually, including Musicians Corner, Nashville Earth Day, and Kidsville Family Festival. Responsibilities include: event mapping, permitting, vendor bookings, on-site sponsorship activation support, on-site partner communications, event merchandise inventory and sales, event load in and load out, event staff and intern hiring and managing, and revenue tracking.
- Recruit, train, schedule, and manage seasonal event staff and interns
- Manage qualitative and financial goals for vendor and merchandise revenue; create strategies to increase revenue in these areas; provide exceptional customer service for event attendees and partners; manage event expenses and meet expense goals
- Support the Nashville Earth Day program; book an engaging schedule of speakers for the Nashville Earth Day speaker’s tent; partner with local environmental organizations and/or local experts to enhance the program and further engage attendees with a comprehensive educational curriculum; manage RFP applications and distribution of Earth Day proceeds to local nonprofits who implement environmental projects across our city
- Support the Kidsville program; assist Kidsville Program Manager with staffing Kidsville events; book engaging vendors and partners to support the Kidsville Family Walk and Kidsville Family Festival.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess most of the following qualifications:
- An undergraduate and/or graduate degree in business, event management, non-profit management, or a related field; or equivalent experience
- A positive and outgoing approach to work and the ability to deliver exceptional customer service.
- A minimum of 3 years event experience with a proven track record of success
- Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail; ability to prioritize, manage, and delegate multiple projects, events, and staff simultaneously; ensure objectives are met in a timely manner.
- Creative, proactive, flexible, self-motivated, self-directed, and results-oriented
- Strong oral and written communication skills with an ability to manage positive relationships and provide exceptional service to internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to collaborate and work effectively as part of a team to achieve individual and mutual goals.
- Commitment to maintaining the integrity of confidential information.
- Ability to work 20+ events annually as needed, with most events taking place on nights and weekends; ability to lift 40+ pounds during event implementation.
- Strong knowledge of technology, including Apple programs, Microsoft Office, and Google Drive.
- An interest and experience in music, arts, culture, education, environmentalism, and/or nonprofit organizations.
