As the overnight face of Hotel Royal Oak, the  Front Desk Attendant  is a calm, capable multitasker who ensures the hotel remains welcoming, efficient, and secure throughout the night. This role blends hospitality, light F&B service, and early-morning prep duties—all while being the first point of contact for late-night guests and early risers.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Greet late-arriving guests with warmth and professionalism.
    • Efficiently manage check-ins, check-outs, and reservation adjustments using our PMS (Mews).
    • Provide local area information, directions, and respond to guest requests in a friendly and proactive manner.
  • Lobby Bar & Drink Orders:
    • Prepare and serve a limited menu of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks upon request from the Hi-Fi Lounge after hours.
    • Ensure guests consuming alcohol are of legal age and monitor consumption in accordance with hotel policies and Michigan Liquor Control Commission guidelines.
    • Deliver drink orders to approved common areas such as the Bridge Pool Lounge, fire pit, and guest rooms when requested.
  • Phone & Communication:
    • Answer hotel phone lines promptly and professionally, directing calls or taking messages as needed.
    • Respond to Akia guest messages and relay information or escalate to management when appropriate.
  • Security & Monitoring:
    • Conduct periodic property walks to ensure safety, cleanliness, and noise levels are appropriate.
    • Lock down and secure guest-only areas at designated times (e.g., fire pits or Pavilion).
  • Morning Breakfast Prep:
    • Set up complimentary morning offerings in the lobby by 6:30AM, including coffee, pastries, and breakfast snacks.
    • Maintain a clean and appealing presentation throughout breakfast service.
  • End-of-Shift Reporting:
    • Log nightly activity, guest interactions, maintenance issues, and F&B sales.
    • Reconcile the POS and complete shift reports for handoff to the morning team.

Ideal Candidate Traits:

  • Calm under pressure and comfortable working solo
  • Friendly, detail-oriented, and proactive
  • Able to manage basic drink preparation and multitask across hospitality and service roles
  • Previous hotel front desk or hospitality experience preferred

Requirements

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a front desk, hospitality, or customer service role
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and a professional, calm demeanor
  • Comfortable working independently and making judgment calls during overnight hours
  • Proficient with technology; prior experience with hotel PMS systems (e.g., Mews) is a plus
  • Ability to multitask—must balance guest check-ins, phone calls, bar service, and morning prep efficiently
  • Basic knowledge of bar service and Michigan alcohol service laws (TIPS certification is a bonus)
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs (breakfast setup, moving supplies, restocking beverages)
  • Excellent time management and attention to detail, especially when performing nightly tasks and logging activity
  • Dependable and punctual with reliable transportation for late-night/early-morning shifts

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in boutique hotel environments or independent properties
  • Familiarity with point-of-sale systems (Toast or similar)
  • Previous overnight or third-shift work history
  • Interest in hospitality, local culture, and guest experience

Additional Requirements:
