Position Details:

This position is expected to interact with students and patrons in a patient and polite manner in an effort to create a healthy library environment conducive to learning.

Responsibilities:

• Unlock doors and prepare library for patrons
• Check book drops
• Process and shelve newspapers
• Assist patrons with computers, printers/copiers, scanners and other library equipment
• Aid patrons with specific types of software and internet-based resources (i.e.: Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, library database access, library print software, etc.).
• Help to maintain order in the library
• Straighten furniture
• Record incidents and report to full-time staff members
• Participate in special projects
• Follow and adhere to general Kilgore College and Watson Library policies and procedures
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma/GED
• Ability to prioritize tasks and organize work efficiently
• Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with students, faculty, and staff
• Punctual, dedicated, friendly, and willing to practice radical hospitality on a daily basis
• Great attention to detail
• Be able to lift up to 25 lbs., sit for long periods, read and work from computer 85% of the time
• Computer skills to include proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, and database applications
• Able to work well with little supervision and relate well to a diverse student and faculty population
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Able to work in a typical office environment
• Able to handle occasional high levels of stress
• Organized, confidentiality-minded, expedient, tactful, and even-tempered
• Excellent customer service skills are required

Salary Range & Fringe Benefits:

• The rate of pay is $10 per hour for up to 19 hours per week. Monday - Thursday 8-12pm with possible Friday and Sunday assignments.

Kilgore College does not participate in the federal Social Security program. 

All full-time positions are located in Kilgore, TX. No fully work from home positions are available at this time. All employees must be available to physically present to work on the Kilgore, TX or Longview, TX Campus. Some Part-Time and Adjunct positions may be offsite but the candidate MUST live in the State of Texas.

Positions will remain open until filled. Some Adjunct and Part-Time teaching positions may remain open perpetually as the need for part time instructors fluctuates with student enrollment. Teaching positions will be required to submit official transcripts upon an offer of employment. An offer of employment will be contingent upon passing a background check. Federal law prohibits the employment of unauthorized aliens. All persons hired must submit satisfactory proof of employment authorization and identity within three (3) days of being hired. Failure to submit proof within the required time shall result in immediate employment termination. All position appointments are subject to approval by the college's Board of Trustees.
