Job Description

Overall Responsibility:

Southeastern Engineering, Inc., Marietta, Georgia, a multifaceted engineering firm seeks Traffic Engineer to review development plans to assess potential traffic impacts, evaluate and recommend traffic control measures to optimize traffic flow and safety, conduct signal warrant analyses and develop concept and design plans for traffic intersection control, analyze crash data to identify necessary improvements in transportation systems and incident management. & perform traffic forecasting to support transportation system enhancements and implementation.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

1. Proficiency in developing traffic signal plans and tr a ffic simulation mo d els in f o r capa c ity an a lysis a nd level o f s e rvice ev a luations.
2. Basic understanding of tra f fic signal and ITS sy s t e ms.
3. Ability to quickly grasp and apply new design procedures/ordinances.
4. A firm understanding and consistent application of SEI/GDOT design standards
5. Fundamental und e rstanding of the de s ign of transp o rtation sy s tems ( roadway, intersec t ion, p e destrian, e t c.)
6. Pro f i c ient tech n ic a l w r i ti n g sk i lls in pr e p a r ing
7. A s sist PE in p reparing T raff i c Imp a ct S tudies for both pu b lic and private c lients
8. As s ist PE in p reparing Tra f fic Engineering Reports p e r Sta t e and l o cal D OT’s for traffic s i gnal w a rrants and ICE ev a luati o n s
9. Knowledge of local state, county ordinances, including ADA.
10. Basic data collection knowledge (count data, crash data, field inspections, signal timing data, basic surveying techniques, etc.)
11. Accurate quantity takeoffs.

Experience, Proficiencies, Skills and Certifications:

• MS degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field
• AutoCAD, MicroStation, Synchro, Highway Capacity Software Suite, PC Warrants, & PTV Vissim.
